1. Introduction

Rheevue ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. By using the Rheevue platform you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Account registration — first name, last name, email address, phone number, and password when you sign up.
  • Business account registration — business name, registration or tax ID, owner name, verification phone number, and supporting documents submitted during a spot claim.
  • Reviews and content — written reviews, star ratings, and any other content you submit to the platform.
  • Profile information — display name and any profile details you choose to add.

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage data — pages visited, search queries, spots viewed, and interactions with the platform.
  • Device information — browser type, operating system, and IP address.
  • Location — approximate location derived from IP address, or precise location if you grant permission in the mobile app, used solely to improve search relevance.

Information from third parties:

  • Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google.
  • Google Places — spot listings, addresses, photos, and operating hours sourced from the Google Places API.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account.
  • To display your reviews and profile information on the platform.
  • To verify business ownership claims and manage spot listings.
  • To personalise search results and spot recommendations based on your location and activity.
  • To send important account notifications (e.g. claim approval status).
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms & Conditions.
  • To improve the platform through aggregated, anonymised analytics.

4. Phone Number Usage

Your phone number is collected for the following purposes only:

  • Account identity and verification.
  • Optional contact discovery — to help you find friends who are also on Rheevue (only with your explicit consent).
  • Business verification — if you submit a spot claim, your phone number may be used by our admin team to verify ownership.

Phone numbers are stored as a one-way hash for contact discovery and are never displayed publicly or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — we use Supabase for database hosting and authentication, and Vercel for web hosting. These providers process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.
  • Google — search queries and location data are sent to the Google Places API to retrieve spot listings. Google's privacy policy applies to that data.
  • Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by Ghanaian law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Rheevue, its users, or the public.
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger or acquisition, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction.

6. Public Information

The following information is visible to all users of the platform:

  • Your display name and avatar initials on reviews you submit.
  • The content of your reviews and star ratings.
  • Your business name if you have a verified claimed spot.

Your email address, phone number, and password are never displayed publicly.

7. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained for as long as your account is active.
  • Reviews and public content remain on the platform after account deletion unless you explicitly request their removal.
  • Business claim documents are retained for a minimum of 12 months for audit purposes.
  • You may request full deletion of your personal data by contacting us at support@rheevue.com.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

Rheevue is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — update inaccurate or incomplete information via your account settings.
  • Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
  • Objection — object to certain uses of your data, including contact discovery.
  • Portability — request an export of your data in a machine-readable format.

11. Cookies

Rheevue uses session cookies strictly necessary for authentication and to maintain your logged-in state. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

13. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, including the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Ghana.
